Event: Auckland Rainbow Parade – Feb 2026

The dream of peace, unity and acceptance remains strong, yet headlines around the world continue to be dominated by hate, conflict and division. New Zealand is not immune. At a time when many communities feel increasingly marginalised, the need to visibly celebrate diversity, inclusion and respect has never been more important.

That is why the Auckland Rainbow Parade proudly returns to Ponsonby on Saturday 21 February 2026 — bringing with it a vibrant reminder of what is possible when communities come together. After last year’s parade was disrupted by protests, this year’s event stands as a powerful statement of resilience, love and belonging, wrapped in colour, creativity and joy.

The Rainbow Parade is more than a celebration; it is a public affirmation that everyone deserves to be seen, respected and celebrated. In a world that can feel fractured, the Parade offers a pot of gold — unity, acceptance, and the simple but profound act of standing together.

Wear your most colourful clothes, sprinkle some glitter, wave those rainbow flags and bring the whole family to dance, smile and enjoy the pizzazz that the Parade brings!

There will be representatives from all parts of the LGBTQIA+ communities, public services and corporate businesses showing their commitment to a community that is inclusive and diverse with energy, creativity, humour and fun – underlining some very serious issues.

Parade Event Manager Shaughan Woodcock says, “This is one of the most colourful parades in Auckland and in a world that seems to be becoming  more divided,  there’s something special when you bring everyone together to celebrate love and kindness no matter what colour you identify with.  It’s a vibrant spectacle that has something for everyone and it is well worth celebrating!”

Street entertainment starts at 530pm which will include big flair, big hair, sounds and sparkle!  The Parade kicks off at Tole Street at 730pm with the parade finishing at Western Park at approximately 930pm.
