Event: Ha-Listic Comedy: A Mindful Stand-Up experience

Few things feel as good as a deep belly laugh or a peaceful meditation session. Nothing matches the euphoria you get from throwing your head back with laughter or the blissful serenity of being present in the moment with yourself. Ha-Listic Comedy combines the two in an experience for the soul and the funny bone. Wellness practitioner Dov Philips (Inspiring Wellness) leads a session for both the audience and the entertainers, aligning them all before handing over the reigns for some truly centered laughs.

Ha-Listic Comedy is an experiment in comedy and wellness that enhances how we see stand up comedy and the space it holds in our lives. It is the brainchild of Dov Philips and the night’s emcee Steven Lyons who spent 7 years performing in Chicago, USA. He now performs stand up across NZ, warms up audiences for The Project and 7 Days and co-founded The Dice Show (NZ Comedy Guild nominated Best Live Show 2019 & 2020)

The show features international headliner Marty Bright who has taken his comedy across Australia – being part of Sydney Comedy Festival: Breakout Showcase, FRESH , and Sydney ComedyFestivalRoadshow, as well as the world performing across North America, appearing at LA’s Comedy Store, New York’s Carolines Comedy Club , and the Montreal Comedy Works. Opening the show is one of Auckland’s most exciting up-and-coming comedians Becky Umbers (NZ Comedy Fest Best Debut 2 019 & NZ Comedy Guild Nominated Best Newcomer 2019). Becky has a unique take on life and a voice to match, she shares stories and observations about a life that seems like a blooper reel from your favorite movie. The show is helmed by Steven Lyons Produced by local social enterprise, Paper Goat, Ha-Lisitic Comedy combines laughter and meditation in a unique experience where the audience and our performers inspire wellness together by being connected in the relaxing space of Dov’s practice in Auckland’s CBD. Spaces are very limited with each show being capped at 25 attendees. It will be intimate, joyous and an evening like no other.
