Interview: ‘Dawn Raids’ and its relevance today

Dawn Raids is a play opening in Auckland this month, which chronicles a very dark chapter in the history of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Written by Oscar Kightley and first performed 25 years ago, the play title refers to a time in the 1970s when the New Zealand police invaded the homes of people suspected of being immigration overstayers. The play shares one family’s experience of the era.
