Movie Review: Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning 1

In this latest instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise, Ethan Hunt and his gang of genius misfits must find and destroy a device with artificial intelligence that in the wrong hands could destroy human civilisation.

As you’d expect, there are plenty of car chases, shootouts, false leads, and a mixture of thugs and villains. There are the kinds of stunts we’ve seen before, and in the gun battles, the bad guys seem to miss all the time, but the good guys almost always hit their targets.

But there is something about a Tom Cruise film isn’t there? This one is action packed, and the stunts while recognisable have an energy and finesse about them so the film is actually very exciting. The old team together bounce off each other but seem a little less energetic than in past films and there isn’t as much humour.

There are a few surprises, but the story is predictable in a way, however don’t let that stop you seeing it as overall, this is a very entertaining film, and as the title suggests, there’s a sequel on the way.

So how did I score it?

Acting   8 /10

Story/Script 7 /10

Cinematography    9 /10

Set/Costumes   8 /10

Entertainment   9 /10

That gives Dead Reckoning Part One an average score of   8.2 / 10
