Damon gives a very well nuanced and stoic performance as a deadbeat kind of dad, and he is ably supported by his castmates and in particular by his French co-star Camille Cottin. The story unfolds slowly but steadily and has enough surprises to keep the suspense going without being overly dramatic. All up, it is a film that feels very genuine and holds your attention throughout.
