VO

Essentially its the story of a group of women who’s partners are deployed in Afghanistan – they form a choir and suddenly become famous – behind the scenes there are tensions and dramas.

Acting

The cast are very good and some excellent singing – I particularly liked the conflict between the lead characters.

8/10 for acting.

Plot/Script

Based on a true story, but a little predictable at times

7/10 for plot

Cinematography

Nicely filmed, thought nothing out of the ordinary

– so 7/10 for cinematography

Set/Costumes

Set in contemporary Britain – so nothing particularly challenging

– so 7/10

Entertainment

Believable characters tension, some laughs and poignant moments but no real wow moments for me

6.5/10 for entertainment value.

Average

Averaging all those scores means Military Wives gets an 7.1/10 overall

It’s a bit strange this one for me, because I liked the story, it has great talent, but it lacked something and  I found myself checking my watch through it….. and thats never a good sign. The last half hour was great but i was restless through much of it. Still watchable – and heartwarming in places.
