Watch: Moonfall is terrible but watchable – go figure!

A small team of astronauts and a misfit try to save the earth from destruction when a mysterious force changes the moon’s orbit and sends it on a collision course with our planet.

The basic premise of the film is interesting, and the so-called mysterious force turns out to be something quite curious. Unfortunately, an appalling script, mediocre acting, and a ridiculous abandonment of any real scientific accuracy almost let down this story. What saves it are the special effects, and a surprising watchability which I think comes from the unintended comedy and mostly fast pace. It is worth watching, but I think you need to completely suspend any knowledge you have about physics, and treat this movie as a wild romp and perhaps even a sci-fi spoof. I suspect in time it will develop a cult following.

So how did I score it?
