Listen: The story behind photographer Peter Peryer

This year, director Shirley Horrocks was made on officer of the New Zealand order of Merit for services to documentary filmmaking. Over her long career she has made over 20 documentaries – many of them focussing on influential New Zealand artists.

Her latest film is called Peter Peryer: The Art of Seeing and is about the well respected kiwi photographer who died in 2018.  In this interview with Andrew Whiteside, Shirley talks about what for her has become a very personal documentary.

A listing of times to see the film at the New Zealand International Film Festival can be found here.
