The Chapel Studios (formerly known as Red Room) was founded in 2006 by award-winning music producer TeMatera Smith who is well-known in supporting emerging and breakthrough artists. The Chapel Studios team have dedicated themselves to supporting musicians by giving them a foothold in the music industry including recording, mixing, producing, and putting on Live @ The Chapel events to help artists better promote themselves.
The last few years have been rough for the music industry, especially in New Zealand. With much of the focus being on international acts, and covid causing lots of smaller businesses and venues to close down, The Chapel Studios is fighting to keep doing what they do best – supporting New Zealand musicians.
With regular events such as the Live @ The Chapel and the annual Lucky Break competition, The Chapel Studios has been contributing to the unique music culture in Aotearoa for a long time, and with your help will continue to do so! All funds raised shall go towards helping keep The Chapel Studio doors open, and continued support for up-and-coming talent!
We are thrilled that we had so many artists wanting to donate their time to play this show, those who know and love the studio – a place that has been so important to their creative output. So we had to narrow it down to a bill that was cohesive and we are delighted to announce that out headlining act is none other than Troy Kingi, an artist who’s creative output has been so closely linked to the studio for many of his albums in his well-known 10|10|10 project.
See headliner and visionary Troy Kingi with supporting acts from up-and-coming Auckland band, Capricore, and Lucky Break Competition (2025) winners The Mariners.
This is an event not to be missed for Troy Kingi fans: Troy and the band will be playing a set of b-sides, tracks never-before played live! This is going to be a very special and unique night.
Troy Kingi released his 9th studio album ‘Troy Kingi Presents: Night Lords’ in November 2025, with it topping the Aotearoa Music Charts as number 1 album within 2 weeks from release!
Most of the music you know and love from Troy Kingi was either recorded, and/or mixed at The Chapel Studios! Troy is delighted to support The Chapel Studios, a place he has made a home for making music in.
Capricore are an emerging Auckland band with a fast growing and enthusiastic fanbase, their live shows are energetic and unforgettable. ‘Don’t Shank Me’ released in June 2025 with the accompanied music video, and ‘Smile’ in October 2025 were recorded and produced at The Chapel Studios, and they are currently working on an album with The Chapel Studios!
The Mariners won the 2025 Lucky Break competition (hosted by The Chapel Studios, KOG Studios and Luma Atmos Studios, in association with AllGood Absolute Alternative Records) and are currently recording their debut EP at The Chapel Studios, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them on the bill, another great live band which we are sure will win you over like they have us! With poetic lyrics, smooth guitar riffs and on-stage chemistry you only get from band members who have worked together a long time, they may just become your new favourite band.
