Movie Review: Godzilla x Kong

In this latest instalment of the twin beast franchise, Godzilla and Kong join forces against a sinister threat deep in Hollow Earth, and we find out a lot about their ancient origins.

Press play to watch the review:

So this movie is in a different sphere to the excellent Godzilla Minus One from last year. And I’m afraid it shows.

Apart from some good scenes showing the destruction of several earth cities and a handful of World Heritage Sites, the plot of this movie is extremely thin. The cast are very enthusiastic, but the connections between people are cliched and not that interesting.

The special effects seem very grainy at times, and the relentless fight scenes between the monsters are over done and over the top. It seems the filmmakers have tried to throw in every trope they could think of and unfortunately it doesn’t really work very well.

So how did I score it?

Acting  6 /10

Story/Script 5 /10

Cinematography   6 /10

Set/Costumes 6 /10

Entertainment value 6 /10

That gives Godzilla x Kong  an average score of  5.8 / 10
