Review: ‘Black Adam’ is big on effects, thin on plot

In this film, Dwayne Johnson stars as a vengeful god like warrior who was imprisoned in a tomb for 5000 years. Freed in the 21st century, he must overcome his lust for revenge and free his people from a wicked bunch of industrialists.

or read on:

It’s a DC comics based fantasy film which is full of great music and some rather awe inspiring special effects. It has some comedic moments in it, but mainly it’s a film about boxing matches by people with super powers who smash up cities and don’t know how to use doors. As a concept it has a lot of promise, but sadly the story is weak, and none of the characters really stand out. Those comedic elements i mentioned are not exploited very well, and Dwayne Johnson plays Black Adam with a bit too much stoicism so that his funny lines get choked off.

It is a watchable film and its action packed, but it just misses the mark by not having a stronger plot.

So how did I score it?

Acting   7 /10

Story/Script 5 /10

Cinematography    7/10

Set/Costumes   7/10

Entertainment   6 /10

That gives Black Adam an average score of   6.4 / 10
